It was in the year 2000. I received a call from my classmate and Lecturer at AITM (then known as AEC). Prof. Syed Ibrahim Karikal was requesting me to be an external guide for the Final Year Academic Project for his students.
I was always recalling our former principal K.K. Abdul Gaffar Saheb discouraging the fabrication oriented project and promoting Study Oriented Project. He had a point. The study oriented project will benefit students in practical life.
I volunteered to take this challenge and selected a design based project in my area of specialization (Fire Protection). The most convenient mode of communication at that time was email. Nevertheless, we completed the project successfully.
There was no looking back. I took challenges of guiding batches other than Mechanical and shared the knowledge gained in my almost three decades of professional career.
Today my 10th batch appeared before external examiner to present their project work. I wish them good luck and a successful career ahead.
My request to my students is to carry forward my legacy and continue with the mentoring of our students.
Later over the years, I took initiative to guide students that included even Civil and Electronics Branches.
