Experience shared by our Alumnus Arshad Hasan Kadli who is member of Board of Governance at AITM. He has given significant contribution for upgrades of Laboratories during year 2022. With support from all of us he aims to bring further enhancements.
Last week, I had the privilege of visiting the College of Architecture and Planning Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University Dammam.
It all started with a LinkedIn post of my friend Vice Dean of the College Dr. Fahad Alyami providing insights on an exhibition in the college. I asked him if I can visit the exhibition along with my twin daughters who are pursing Bachelorette in Architecture in India.
After giving a guided tour of the exhibition Dr.Fahad Alyami called my another acquaintance Dr. M. Abdul Mujeebu who is professor at the University.
I visited various laboratories of the college and was impressed at the infrastructure created for the students and researchers alike.
Acoustics Laboratory is unique in entire country and deserves special mention. Overall the University holds several patents. However, I was told that this Laboratory gave its very first patent. The visit to this Laboratory is special lifetime experience wherein I was taken to to a sound generator room and then taken to Anechoic Chamber which is called as Quite Room.An anechoic chamber can be considered similar to a precision acoustical measurement instrument, providing a free-field environment without noise interference or sound reflection .
There is no doubt that our Indian colleges produce talented engineering graduates. However, if we compare the amount of papers published and number of patents for the innovations this University holds, I feel that our Indian engineering colleges have a big scope for improvement.
Overall it was a very satisfying experience.
